CONFIRMED: Islanders acquire O’Brien from Huskies

The Charlottetown Islanders have acquired Quinn O’Brien and a draft pick from the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

In return, the Islanders send 16-year-old prospect Anthony Wojcik to the Huskies. Charlottetown also receives a 10th-round pick in 2017 in the deal.

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies confirmed the news on its website this morning.

O’Brien, who stands six-foot-three and 210 pounds, is in his third QMJHL season. He currently has five goals and seven points in 34 games with the Huskies as one of the team’s assistant captains. He has also racked up 82 penalty minutes. O’Brien was a fifth round pick by the Huskies in 2011.

Wojcik was a fourth round, 63rd overall, pick by the Islanders in 2014 and is currently playing Midget Triple A with College Charles-Lemoyne. He has five goals and 14 points in 31 games.

The trade will be made official today by the QMJHL. The trade period comes to a close Jan. 6, 2015.
