Russia edges Switzerland to advance to World Junior ‘A’ Challenge semifinal

KINDERSLEY, Sask. – Nikolai Chebykin scored a pair of goals, including the game winner, as Russia defeated Switzerland 3-2 to advance to the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge semifinal game on Thursday.

Dmitri Zhukenov also scored for Russia.

Auguste Impose and Makai Holdener replied with goals for Switzerland.

Ilya Samsonov made 25 saves in the win for Russia while Joren Van Pottelberghe turned aside 34 of 37 shots in the loss for Switzerland.

Russia faces Denmark in the semifinals on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. EST.
