RUMOR: Islanders to acquire big forward from Huskies

The La Frontiere is reporting that the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies will trade 19-year-old forward Quinn O’Brien to the Charlottetown Islanders tomorrow when the trading period opens.

In return, the Huskies will receive 16-year-old prospect Anthony Wojcik and a sixth-round pick.

O’Brien, who stands six-foot-three and 210 pounds, is in his third QMJHL season. He currently has five goals and seven points in 34 games with the Huskies as one of the team’s assistant captains. He has also racked up 82 penalty minutes. O’Brien was a fifth round pick by the Huskies in 2011.

Wojcik was a fourth round, 63rd overall, pick by the Islanders in 2014 and is currently playing Midget Triple A with College Charles-Lemoyne. He has five goals and 14 points in 31 games.

The trade period opens tomorrow and comes to a close on Jan. 6, 2015. The trade should be made official tomorrow by the league.
