15 QMJHL players will compete at the 2015 BMO Top Prospects Game


The Canadian Hockey League has announced the rosters for the upcoming 2015 BMO Top Prospects Game.

Of the 40 players invited, 15 are based in the QMJHL.

The Maritimes Division is best represented with seven played named to one of the two rosters. Halifax Mooseheads forward Timo Meier, Saint John Sea Dogs defenceman Thomas Chabot and Acadie-Bathurst Titan defenceman Guillaume Brisebois will suit up for Bobby Orr’s squad. Charlottetown Islanders tandem of Filip Chlapik and Daniel Sprong will skate for Team Cherry along with Cape Breton Screaming Eagles forward Evgeny Svechnikov and Saint John Sea Dogs defenceman Jakub Zboril.

Five players from the QMJHL’s East Division will compete at the BMO Top Prospects Game. The first-overall pick at the 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft, Chicoutimi Sagueneens’ Nicolas Roy, has been named to Team Orr along with Baie-Comeau Drakkar defenceman Nicolas Meloche. A pair of Shawinigan Cataractes, Dennis Yan and Anthony Beauvillier, will play for Don Cherry’s team along with Quebec Remparts goaltender Callum Booth.

Three players from the West Division round out the QMJHL’s representation at the annual event. Blainville-Boisbriand Armada goaltender Samuel Montembeault will share goalkeeping duties with Booth for Team Cherry. Gatineau Olympiques rookie Yakov Trenin will join Montembeault on the Cherry squad while Sherbrooke Phoenix defenceman Jeremy Roy skates for Team Orr.

13 players from the OHL and 12 from the WHL will complete the two rosters.

The game will take place on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015 in St. Catharines, Ont. at the newly built Meridian Centre.
