REPORT: Sea Dogs to deal Fortin to Cataractes

According to Steve Turcotte of Le Nouvelliste, the Saint John Sea Dogs are expected to trade Louis-Philip Fortin to the Shawinigan Cataractes.

The Sea Dogs will reportedly receive a third and fourth-round pick from the Cataractes in exchange for the young defenceman.

Fortin, 16, was originally a fifth-round pick of the Quebec Remparts in the 2014 QMJHL Entry Draft. The Sherbrooke, Que. product was soon dealt to the Sea Dogs in the trade involving Alex McQuaid.

The 1998-born Fortin has spent the past two seasons with the QMAAA’s Magog Cantonniers. In 2013-14, Fortin tallied 8 points in 41 games with the Cantonniers.

The QMJHL trading period begins officially on Dec. 19.
