Sags acquire Sebastien Gauthier from Cataractes

The Chicoutimi Sagueneens have acquired 20-year-old defenceman Sebastien Gauthier from the Shawinigan Cataractes.

In return, the Sagueneens send a fifth-round pick in 2016 to the Cataractes.

Gauthier joins his third team in four seasons. The St-Julie, Que., native was originally a 12th round pick by the Montreal Juniors (now the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada) in 2011. He joined the Cataractes last season via trade where he played 39 games collecting five goals and 21 points.

This season, the five-foot-11, 172-pound frame scored five goals and 11 points in 26 games with Shawinigan.

The trade was made official by the league today.
