OFFICIAL: Oceanic acquires defenceman Beaudoin
The Rimouski Oceanic has acquired defenceman Charles-David Beaudoin from the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
In return, the Oceanic sends a first-round pick in 2015 and second-round pick in 2016 along with 16-year-old defenceman Jarrod Shipley. Rimouski also receives a sixth-round pick in 2016 in the deal.
Beaudoin, 20, is in his fifth QMJHL season, all spent with the Voltigeurs. He has put up four goals and 13 points in 20 games this season. The Drummondville, Que., native was drafted 17th overall by the Voltigeurs in 2010 and went on to score 27 goals and 83 points in 264 career regular season games with the Voltigeurs. Beaudoin captained the Voltigeurs since the 2012-13 season.
Shipley, was Rimouski’s fourth round, 71st overall, pick in 2014 and is currently playing with the Saint John Vito’s of the NBPEIMMHL. The Saint John, N.B., native has two goals and seven points in 17 games with the Vito’s this season.
Beaudoin should join Samuel Morin on Rimouski’s top defensive pairing.
