Russians continue strong play, defeat OHL 4-0

PETERBOROUGH, ONT. – Team Russia continued its strong play at the Subway Super Series, defeating Team Ontario Hockey League 4-0 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Thursday.

Konstantin Okulov, Rushan Rafikov, Nikita Shatsky and Vladimir Bryukvin scored goals for Team Russia.

After a scoreless first period, the Russians got on the board at 2:16 of the second period as Konstantin Okulov scored his second goal of the tournament, Sergei Tolchinsky and Nikita Shatsky were given the assists.

Russia took a 2-0 lead as Rushan Rafikov found the back of the net for his first goal of the tournament on the power play at 12:27 of the middle frame, Dmitry Yudin and Ivan Fishchenko picked up the helpers on the goal.

Nikita Shatsky added to the Russians lead as he fired home his first goal of the tournament at 14:28 of the second period, Tolchinsky and Vladislav Gavrikov recorded the assists.

The Russians added an insurance goal on the power play as Vladimir Bryukvin buried his first goal of the tournament at 19:42 of the middle stanza, Rafikov and Yudin found the score sheet with the helpers on the goal.

Igor Shestyorkin stopped all 35 shots he faced in the game for the Russians. Spencer Martin turned aside 22 of 26 shots in the loss for Team Ontario Hockey League.

Game four of the Subway Super Series goes Monday, Nov. 17, when Team Ontario Hockey League hosts Team Russia in Kingston, Ont.
