Screaming Eagles trade overager Legare to Sherbrooke
The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have traded forward Charles-Eric Legare to the Sherbrooke Phoenix for a pair of draft picks today.
Coming Cape Breton’s way is Victoriaville’s third-round pick in 2015 and a sixth-round pick in 2016.
Legare, 20, scored three goals and eight points in nine games this season with the Screaming Eagles. In 68 games last season, the five-foot-10, 179-pound frame scored 34 goals for 70 points. Legare was originally a seventh round pick by the Rimouski Oceanic in 2011 and played 40 games with Oceanic in two seasons before being traded to Cape Breton.
The trade comes just days after overage forward Cameron Darcy was returned to the Screaming Eagles from the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning’s training camp. Teams are only allowed to dress three overage players per game.
The trade was made official today.
