Seven Heaven: Canada defeats Czech Republic to capture seventh straight gold medal
Canada defeated the Czech Republic 6-2 on Saturday to win gold at the under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
Dylan Strome opened the scoring at 3:34 of the first period and Lawson Crouse made it a 2-0 game a few minutes later.
Mitchell Marner and Travis Konecny added goals later in the period for the Canadians, who were unbeaten in the tournament.
The Czechs got on the board early in the second period when Radek Koblizek beat netminder Zach Sawchenko.
Nicolas Roy restored Canada’s four-goal cushion before Lukas Jasek scored for the Czechs late in the frame.
Lawson Crouse added an insurance goal in the third period for the Canadians, who have won gold seven years in a row.
