Canada storms past USA in Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup semifinal


Canada defeated the United States 11-5 on Friday to advance to the final of the under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.

Dylan Strome of Mississauga, Ont., scored a hat trick and all but two of Canada’s 18 skaters recorded at least a point.

Sweden was scheduled to play the Czech Republic in the other semifinal.

The medal games are set for Saturday.

Canada has won this tournament six years in a row, and 18 of the past 23 times since it began in 1991.
