Video: Evolution of the QMJHL in 46 seconds

1969

In honour of the start of its of the 2014-15 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season, The Q News’ feature writer Graham Neysmith has compiled a complete history of the league’s teams. In the minute and a half long slideshow, you can observe the evolution from the humble little group of eleven teams in 1969, to the internationally renowned league we know it as today.

Check back with The Q News all season long for postgame recaps, breaking news and analysis you won’t find anywhere else.

Note: Due to the surplus of teams located in the Montreal area (Montreal, Longueil, Verdun, Rosemont and Laval) pre-1990, we had to signify the location of those franchises with lines. The logos could not all fit in their respective places on the map.
