The expansion draft for the St. Stephen County Aces, the newest Maritime Junior Hockey League team, was held on Tuesday.

The first year franchise, who will begin play in September, selected 14 forwards, five defensemen and two goaltenders from the other eleven MHL clubs.

Each team lost two players with the exception of the Truro Bearcats, on whom the Aces didn’t make a selection in round two.

Among the players picked were seven Quebec Major Junior Hockey League property. Alexander Mann (Moncton), Alexander Snow (Quebec), Benji Gaudet (Halifax), Andrew Shewfelt (Halifax), Jamie McIntyre (Cape Breton), Kyle Porter (Saint John) and Alex Gallant (Acadie-Bathurst) were selected.

Other players selected, who at one point were property of QMJHL teams, were Damon MacDonald (Cape Breton), Tyler Pyke (Gatineau) and Brandon Cottrell (Cape Breton).
