McDonald named Top Goaltender at World Under-18 Championship



Charlottetown Islanders goaltender Mason McDonald earned yet another honour at the IIHF World Under-18 Championship.

In addition to backstopping the Canadian squad to a Bronze medal, McDonald was named one of the three best players on the team by his coaches for the tournament and named Player of the Game twice.

Now McDonald can add the accolade of being selected as the tournament’s top goaltender by the IIHF Directorate to the list of accomplishments earned in Finland.

McDonald played in six games, posting a 4-2 record over 371 minutes played. Allowing 12 goals on 171 shots, McDonald came away with a goals against average of 1.94 (2nd) and a 0.930 save percentage (1st).
