World Under-17 Hockey Challenge: Day Two Recap – Monday, Dec. 30, 2013

Day two of the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge is officially over, and Team United States and Team Ontario continue their winning ways pushing their records to two wins and no losses.

Game Five: Team Czech Republic Vs. Team Quebec:

SYDNEY, N.S. – Team Czech Republic scored four unanswered goals in the third period to beat Team Quebec 5-1 at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge at Centre 200.

Roman Dymacek had two goals, while Josef Zajic, David Kase and Simon Stransky also scored single markers for Team Czech Republic.

Anthony Beauvillier had the lone goal for Team Quebec.

Ales Stezka made 25 saves in the win for Team Czech Republic, while Callum Booth turned aside 32 of 36 shots in the loss for Team Quebec.

Game Six: Team United States Vs. Team Germany:

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. – Luke Kirwan had a five point performance, which included a hat trick, as Team United States rolled past Team Germany 14-1 at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge at the Emera Centre.

Jordan Greenway also scored three times, while Colin White had a pair of goals, and Jeremy Bracco, Charles McAvoy, Luke Kunin, Matthew Tkachuk, Christian Evers and Dennis Yan scored single markers for the USA.

Lois Spitzner buried the only goal for Team Germany in the game.

Luke Opilka made 16 saves in the win for Team United States, while Michael Boehm turned aside 33 of 47 shots in the loss for Team Germany.

Game Seven: Team Ontario Vs. Team Atlantic:

SYDNEY, N.S. – Graham Knott had two goals to lead Team Ontario to a 5-1 victory over Team Atlantic at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge at Centre 200.

Dylan Strome, Travis Konecny and Hayden McCool also netted goals for Team Ontario.

Nicholas Welsh replied with the lone goal for Team Atlantic.

Troy Timpano made 22 saves in the win for Team Ontario, while Blade Mann-Dixon turned aside 27 of 32 shots in the loss for Team Atlantic.

Game Eight: Team Pacific Vs. Team West:

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. – Matteo Gennaro had two goals and an assist as Team Pacific defeated Team West 6-3 at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge at the Emera Centre.

Giorgio Estephan, Tyler Benson, Brad Morrison and Tyler Soy also found the back of the net for Team Pacific.

Colton Conrad had two goals, while Connor Hobbs scored a single marker for Team West.

Zach Sawchenko made 23 saves in the win for Team Pacific, while Logan Flodell turned aside 27 of 33 shots in the loss for Team West.

Action gets back underway at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge on Tuesday when Team Germany faces Team Russia, Team West plays Team Czech Republic, Team Atlantic battles Team United States, and Team Quebec takes on Team Sweden.
