USA Hockey Announces National Jr. Team Preliminary Roster

USA Hockey announced on Wednesday its preliminary roster for their national junior team, which will participate in the upcoming IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Malmö, Sweden.

Among the 26-players invited to the team’s selection camp was Quebec Remparts forward Adam Erne. In 26 games with the Remparts this season, the native of New Haven, CT., has recorded 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points, along with 35 penalty minutes. Also among the camp roster is Saint John Sea Dogs prospect Jack Eichel and Rimouski Océanic property Stefan Matteau Jr. Eichel is playing with the U.S. National Under-18 Team in the United States Hockey League, while Matteau is with the American Hockey League’s Albany Devils

The national junior team camp will run from Dec. 15-18 at the University of Minnesota’s Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis, with preparations continuing in Angelholm, Sweden, before the final 23-man roster is announced on Dec. 23.

Team USA, who will be in group ‘A’ along with the Canada, Czech Republic, Germany and Slovakia, will open the 2014 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship on Dec. 26, against Team Czech Republic in Malmö, Sweden.
