Bolts Ink Drouin to Entry-Level Deal
Lightning Vice President and GM Steve Yzerman announced late this afternoon that the team has signed recent draftee, Jonathan Drouin, to an entry-level contract. In doing so, the Lightning become the first team to sign a player selected in last week’s NHL Draft.
The reigning CHL Player of the Year was taken third overall in last Sunday’s draft, just two spots behind junior teammate Nathan MacKinnon. This past spring, the 5-foot-11, 175-pound forward helped lead the Halifax Mooseheads’ to their first Presidents Cup championship potting 12 goals and 23 assists for 35 points in the process.
Jonathan Drouin was awarded the Guy Lafleur trophy for most valuable player in the 2013 QMJHL playoffs, joining the likes of Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby.
